Hubble, we hardly knew ye...

The debate rages on with what to do with Hubble. Now, it seems, the plan is to dump it in the Pacific with no immediate replacement...

Update: Congressman Steny Hoyer (D-MD) has joined the fight with Senator Barbara Mikulski (Also, D-MD) and has released a statement in support of Hubble.

Comments:
hubble should not be disguarded so easily, thereonce was a man with two sons, 1 stayed and assumed control of the family business, the other struck out to find his own life, as is with huble should i return to earth then, recover and learn of the universal constant, but once created and launched, let it go and do it job, you may find out more about the universe than expected.

Hubble has been one helluva workhorse. I watched a special on the Science Channel today, detailing the many manned missions to service the telescope. If it requires allowing Hubble to die of old age in order to get people to Mars, I'm all for it. We still have Chandra, and Webb is slated for 2010. Hubble is great big science, but the is more out there to discover.
